Complementary Degree Programme

If you would like to study a third teaching subject you can do so in the form of an extension curriculum. This is also possible if you have already completed a teacher education programme at an Austrian university. However, you will not be awarded an academic title for the completion of an extension curriculum.

A prerequisite is an ongoing or completed teacher education programme (bachelor’s or diploma programme) at an Austrian university. Admission is possible within the general admission period. If you have an active admission to a degree programme at the University of Vienna, you can apply for admission to an extension curriculum by sending an e-mail to bachelor.zulassung@univie.ac.at

In the teaching subject Sports and Physical Education, you have to register for the supplementary examination to prove that you have the necessary physical and motor skills by 17 July. Please select the bachelor’s programme in Sports Sciences on u:space and write an e-mail to notify us that you would like to add the subject Sports and Physical Education after completing the supplementary examination. Following the successful completion of the supplementary examination, you can enrol in the extension curriculum.

You do not have to take the aptitude test for the teacher education programme if you would like to be admitted to the extension curriculum. You cannot simultaneously study more than one teaching subject in the form of an extension curriculum. If you would like to add two more teaching subjects, you have to apply for admission to a second teacher education programme.

Please note that you have to complete an elective field (Wahlbereich) comprising 5 ECTS credits in the extension curriculum.
